Thomas Nguyen

Career Objective: A recent UC Santa Barbara graduate that majored in Geography with an emphasis in GIS. As a GIS major, I am fascinated by the collection, analysis and management of geographical data and the important role they play across technology, data analysis, and environmental sciences many of which align with my interests. I demonstrate outstanding proficiency in working collaboratively with others in order to curate innovative solutions to complex problems. I am enthusiastic about utilizing my skills and experiences to larger corporations where I will bring in significant impact.

Python(Beginner):

Foundational information: data structures, functions, file handling and manipulating

API's(application program interface): Bootstrap
1. Navbar: great for resonsive navigation header to support all device screens
2. Offcanvas: support for a header with a close button (useful for navbars that want a standalone tab for headings)
3. GRID System: series of containers, rows and columns to layout and align content. Built with a flexbox and is good for making a website responsive (being able to accomodate for mobile device screens with different dimensions
4. Accordion: Builds vertitically collapsing accordions in combination with JS collapse. Uses collapse internally to make it collapsible. Good for organizing projects with their titles
5. Carousel: Good for showcasing images
Forms, surveys, tables, formatting

R Programming (Intermediate):

Mapping CHTS survey data
Querying data, creating bar graphs, histograms
Regression Analysis
- Understanding how to build regression models, assess their performance and extract behavioral indications
- Linear regression model, count data regression model, binary regression model using logit and multicategory model using multinomial logit

- Word: formatting features, preparing deliverables for research reports
- Excel: Pivot tables, table formatting
